Washington St. Partners was selected by Kinney Drugs to develop a new store in this small town in the Adirondack Park, near Lake Placid, New York. The town offered limited locations suitable for Kinney, and WSP determined that an existing property occupied by a Grand Union Market grocery store was the best solution to meet Kinney’s requirements and add value to the community. Through creative site planning and engineering, WSP was able to comply with the local, regional and state requirements to subdivide the property between Kinney and Grand Union. This smart growth solution minimized the impact of a new building on the community and increased traffic flow to both businesses.
